A certain young shaman was beset from all around by the cares of the world. Relationships, money, work, the news — it all seemed to be hitting hard. Friends were concerned.
The shaman, true to his calling, journeyed to the spirits to ask for protection. The next morning, walking to work across the park, there was an amulet. Just hanging there, from a leather strip, on a tree, glinting slightly. It was clearly for protection.
The shaman thanked the spirits and began to wear the amulet, day and night.
As promised, life became calmer — almost manageable. And yet, over time, something was missing — a lack.
Thirty years later, the shaman travelled again, and the spirits whispered about the amulet again. ‘You’ve worn the amulet for protection all these years. Now, it is time to turn it around, to welcome the world in’.
The shaman reversed the amulet, and wore it that way every night and every day. Life flooded in — chaos and confusion and love and anger and every emotion in the three worlds.
Over time, the shaman grew weary. Thirty years later, another journey to the spirits.
The shaman walked into the park, and hung the amulet on a tree.
