We want to make a bigger difference in public services — what advice do you have for me?

We have another #Commissioning Academy this autumn from

The Public Service Transformation Academy kindly hosted by Royal Borough of Greenwich and at least two alumni, Nicole Allwood and Henrietta Barkham (places still available — let me know if interested).

And we’re going to be launching the framework we base the Academies on — currently called ‘the eight aspects of commissioning’.

The point is to help #PublicServices get better results for people and places, citizens and communities. It’s exciting to see that the new government’s agendas align perfectly with our focus areas.

Four are more #systems and #outcome-focused:

1- Whole systems design — are we making a place based on wellbeing, wher people thrive?

2- Building relationships across the system — are we joining up, planning together, making sense?

3 — Are we boosting capacity, capability, and confidence of people, neighbours, community groups, businesses, and public services?

4- Are we putting citizens and outcomes at the heart of services?

And our foundational pillars:

5- Are we leveraging information, insight, and innovation?

6- Are we making the space to actual make a difference, and dealing with policy and compliance and so on in a proactive way?

7- Do we have the core commissioning process right?

8- Are we developing models and tactics, service design that really makes a differene?

Tou have to do all this and more to make a difference, working in #complexity, so it’s not a simple framework or method.

So as we gear up for the launch, I’m seeking your insight.

→ How can we best communicate the value of these aspects in a language that resonates?

→ What strategies have you found effective in sharing transformative work and helping people to make an impact?
